Department 56 Christmas In The City collection’s Cathedral Church of St. Mark created a lot of drama when it was first released. This building was originally designed as a Dickens’ Village church; however, it was too large to fit into that collection. Plans were to manufacture the church as a numbered limited edition of 17,500 buildings. But the manufacturing process in 2001 for this large church resulted in severe warping and breakage causing the company to cease production after 6 1/2 months and only 3,024 completed churches that were sellable. Three separate molds were used to create this very large, very impressive cathedral. This is limited edition number 2,881. Since it was made towards the end of the production run, many of the early issues causing poor quality were resolved. There are no obvious flaws noted in this beautiful church. Our packing team places each collectible box under UV light for 10 minutes per exposed surface, which has been shown to eradicate “germs” on the surface. On roof (almost like they used a liquid snow and this was the overspray). Original Styrofoam Box: Present in Good Condition.
