Dept 56 Christmas in the City (CIC) Series FLATIRON BUILDING #59260
This is one of the most iconic buildings from New York, and this rendition of it is incredibly detailed and beautiful. The wedge shape of the building which maximized the use of the wedge shaped lot is captured perfectly in this piece. The trim pieces are still in the plastic bag they came in, and I have observed that many of the ones offered for sale here do not even show that they include these trim pieces. This was introduced along with the accessory “Let’s Get Out Of This Wind” which is also offered for sale today. It really doesn’t affect the desirability of this building, but I always want to be 100% accurate if I can. There is no damage of any kind on this piece. The only thing about this piece that isn’t absolutely mint is the sleeve, which has a little discoloration and wrinkling on the front from storage, and the Styrofoam box that is missing the interior braces. I tried to show the damage to the front of the sleeve, and I just couldn’t get it at the right angle, but I wanted to be accurate in my description. This piece was introduced in 2006 and retired in 2010. I often have the accessory that was created in conjunction with this building, and hopefully I have listed it as well. This is an animated piece, with the skaters appearing to go in and out of the Pavilion. I tested it and it works perfectly. There is no damage of any kind on this piece. This piece was introduced as a mid-year in May, 2007 as a limited edition, this being number 6??? And retired in December, 2007. Somehow the number was smeared after it was hand-written on the piece, so I have no idea what it was. It has been stored in my smoke free home since then. This piece was introduced in 2007 as a commemorative piece celebrating 20 years of Christmas in the City, and was limited to 2007 as the year of production. I often have the accessory that was created in conjunction with this building, and hopefully I have listed it as well. This is for everyone’s peace of mind.
