The hustle and bustle along city sidewalks during the holiday season is just the place for excitement and cheer! Inspired by this imagery, the Christmas in the City Series was introduced in 1987. In honor of lively cities and their diverse architecture, the series offers dozens of places to live, shop, work, dine and enjoy the arts. The overall effect is a perfect blend of holiday cheer and breathtaking cityscapes. The Department 56 Christmas in the City Series #58937 features a traditional “Parkside Holiday Brownstone” created in 2002 and now retired. This hand painted porcelain piece features a multicolor finish and comes boxed with a traditional Dept. 56 cord and bulb for illumination. Standing at 10 tall including the Christmas Tree on top of the building! , 5 1/2″ in length, and 4 1/2″ in width, this collectible item from Department 56 captures the essence of Christmas in the City and would make a charming addition to any room during the holiday season. Notice the highly detailed balconies! This brownstone is well dressed for the holidays and features a walk out rooftop garden, where potted Christmas trees set a festive mood for the holidays. From the fire escape to the window boxes, the Christmas spirit continues to the busy sidewalks for all to enjoy. Also includes a whimsical ceramic boy and his dog, carrying Christmas lights, measuring 2 1/2″ in height, 2″ in length and 1 1/2 in width. You will also find an unopened bag of “Fresh Fallen Snow” and a City Lit bare branch tree measuring 6 1/2″ in height, surrounded by a wrought iron fence, and lit with two fresh “C batteries! The small bulbs on the outside of the building no longer light up, but the beauty of this piece is still overwhelming! Overall, a highly detailed piece of seasonal fun! Please see my other Dept. 56 listings, including some from the “Christmas in the City” Series!
